First: WOOOOOOOW!!! finally a 3d simulator for Lego NXT, that's awesome.

now second: I was wondering if you can use another robot. In other words, to design your own robot, using the program: LDD "Lego Digital Designer", and then to put it to the test.

Will that be possible???

Hi,

For now, it's possible to create your own simulated robot in MSRDS, but it's quite complicated :
- First, if you want to start from a LDD model, you have to find a way to convert it to .x or .obj to use the 3D model in MSRDS, otherwise you can make your own 3D model with a 3D editor.
- Then, you have to write the simulated robot class in MSRDS (read simulation tutorials from MSRDS or ProMRDS book and samples http://www.promrds.com/Downloads.htm) to give physics and sensors to your robot.

You should be able to use our environment, but the dashboard for now only manages a simulated tribot (maybe we will add more extensibility in a next version)

Regards

OK, so... instead of using LDD, which one can I use to create my 3D model?

You can use classic 3D Tools like Maya or 3DSMax. If you want to keep the "lego" modeling, it seems that LDraw generated files could be converted to .obj with this tool : http://xxcoder.hostrocket.com/ldrdat2.htm

The difficult part after modelising your robot is to write the entity class for MSRDS. We works on a tool to easly do that, but we have no idea when we will release it.
