First I'd like to say that I've found the simulation engine very useful for testing my Lego NXT code, thank you SimplySim!

Now I've come across a roadblock in my simulations. I need to create an object in the simulation environment. This object is very similar to the game mat which the Lego NXT is on when the simulation engine is run. Its purpose is to see whether the bot can follow a variety of paths (straight line, squiggly, different shades of line etc.) I have a JPG with the mat design but I cannot figure out how to create this object in the simulator. I have checked out the Visual Simulation Environment tutorials but in all cases a pre-existing .obj or .bos file is referenced. Any guidance on how to proceed is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

You should take a look to the MSRDS tutorials about the simulation engine to perform this operation.
To create a .obj, you need a 3D modeler program (Maya, 3DS Max, Blender, ...). It should be easy to make a simple plan and attach a texture.
Your obj can be precomiled in .bos with obj2bos.exe or MSRDS can compile it automatically at loading.

Regards
