We believe that 3D on the mobile platform has a lot of to offer for many applications. We’ve clearly been impressed by the Windows Phone 7 platform, and based on the positive feedback on our first Windows Phone 7 application; we’ve decided to port the SimplyCube 3D engine to Windows Phone 7.

The process of creating a 3D application using the SimplyCube will be exactly the same, regardless of the platform; the difference will only be made at the end of the process, when the scene is exported. Other platform will be added later on (Web browser based version, Xbox360, …).

Very Cool!!! Will this port to a Silverlight app for a standard browser as well or just WP7?

  2. Thanks :)
Yes a browser version is scheduled.
However just to clarify, the SimplyCube WP7 engine is not using Silverlight but XNA (you can use either one to create WP7 apps).

Thanks for the info. The software loooks really nice and seems like the easiest to use that I’ve seen.

Would I be able to port an app to XNA Touch in the same way as a regular XNA app? Ideally I would like to run on WP7, iPhone and Droid, and browser. So I’m hoping to achieve a development pipeline that would look like this:
Create under SimplyCube and then port over to the iPhone and Droid using XNA Touch (assuming XNA Touch Droid support is coming which appears to be the case).

    Thank you

  4. Eventually that’s the goal, yes : the idea is that you can use the same tool to easily create a 3D application on several platforms. For now we have Windows (XP, Vista, 7) and Windows Phone 7. We’ll add a browser version, an Xbox360 version and probably an iPhone / Droid version too. I cannot give you any timing on that but it’s definitely part of our plan :)
